This is the Story of Your Red Right Ankle

[by Amanda de Cadenet]

In observation of December 1st’s World Aids Day, let’s hope atleast one ribbon, one poster, one red shirt, or one speech helped spread some awareness or counter a prejudice. For the 15.7 million women, 15.6 million men, and 2.1 million children under 15 living with HIV worldwide, here’s a bit of red.

10 Things I Love Tuesday: City Edition

1. .PRETTY GRAFFITI.

[source]

2. .PEOPLE-WATCHING.

Maybe not to the extent of toting a video camera around (like in New York, I Love You), but still.

And here, the Sex and the City slapping scene.

3. .JAYWALKING.

Because waiting for lights to change is not time-effective.

[source]

4. .MISSED CONNECTIONS.

I love this blog’s artistic representation of the “missed connection.”

[source]

Check out my borderline embarrassing musings on strangers.

5. .COBBLESTONES.

I thoroughly appreciate their rustic charm (though definitely when not wearing heels).

6. .GREENSPACES.

[my own photo of a garden in South End of Boston]

7. .CABS.

And this post contains my favorite taxi cab related photo by Rodney Smith.

8. .SKYLINES.

[my own photo]

9. .PUBLIC LIBRARIES.

10. .ABUNDANT CONCERT VENUES.

Being close to so many venues provides limitless access to live music. Tonight, I spontaneously up and went to  Greg Laswell’s show at Berklee College with one of my favorites. We got to chat with him after the performance. He is extremely talented, funny, and down to earth.

Hope everyone had a beautiful Tuesday!

I wish Boston had a traditional bridge like San Francisco or New York. The contemporary style of the Zakim simply isn’t cutting it.

There Were Gardens And Trees And Balloons In The Sky

I am saddened to inform you that balloons are now officially an endangered species.  The planet’s helium reserves are being depleted so quickly, that it’s probable supplies could be depleted in as few as eight years!  This development is just one more way the world is starting to pay for its past unsustainable habits. But really, in all unseriousness, our helium indulgences must be used sparingly.  What’s a birthday going to be like without at least one floaty balloon?

If you don’t believe me, here’s some proof.

10 Things I Love Tuesday (Belated)

1. .BIKE RIDES.

[source]

How I wish it were safer to ride a bicycle to class, but with my skill level I would for certainly get hit by oncoming traffic.

2. .BIRDS OF A FEATHER.

Isn’t it cute when friends are so similar that you can even tell their compatibility from their clothing styles?

Though my friends Steph and Caitlin each have distinct styles, this picture of them is adorably coordinated.

3. .GYPSY MARILYN.

[source]

4. .GETTING PACKAGES.

In fact, I got nearly as excited for my most recent package from Forever 21 as Carrie did for her Vivienne Westwood wedding gown.

5. .DOGS IN WINDOWS…

AND DUCKS IN SINKS.

[source]

6. .THIS QUOTE.

And check out the documentary Flow. It’s a perfect portrayal of everything wrong with the way the world is handling the water crisis.
