Got The Thin End Of The Wedge, Took The Wrong Bend On The Edge

TREND: WEDGE HEELS

Leg-elongating wedges are the fashion world’s go-to summer footwear right now. Perfect for chic summer dressing in the city, not to mention they’re ideal for outdoor events (i.e. you won’t be sinking into the grass), wedge heels are actually comfortable and ultra versatile. The wedge heel turns even a 3-inch platform into a completely wearable pair of sandals. Make like these Cameron, Eva, and, Allesanda and opt for tan, taupe and nude versions to add height to summer dresses and shorts and even skinny jeans a la an Olsen twin. I know my summer wardrobe just wouldn’t be complete without a pair. Now go take on the world with your easy-on-the-feet extra height!

TREND: HIGH-WAISTED SKIRTS

My friends will probably roll their eyes at this post. I’ve been known to overdo this trend a bit. Read: More often than not, I am found wearing some sort of high-waisted ensemble. Fortunately, the look is quite flattering, easy to pull off, and versatile enough to wear for day, night, or even on the job.

FOR DAY

Going high-waisted by day is not only comfortable, but instantly and easily put together.

  • Wear them with basics.
  • Don’t be afraid to mix patterns.
  • Let your accessories downplay the look.

FOR NIGHT

Wearing this trend out at night is my go-to look, because it’s easy to dress up or dress down.

  • Pair patterned skirts with a dressy top or blazer
  • Add a cinching belt to lend structure.
  • With such a comfortable silhouette, go daring with shoes.

FOR WORK

Dating back to the era depicted by Mad Men, the high-waisted skirt is the perfect nine to five outfit.

  • Work with proportions, balancing a shorter skirt with a bigger top.
