4. CHRISTY TURLINGTON in the perfect ikat shift dress.

5. VANESSA HUDGENS is casual in my favorite shade of turquoise.

La Vie Looks For New Year’s Eve

Here is some last-minute New Year’s Eve fashion inspiration for all of you procrastinators (myself included). Take risks tonight (with your outfit, of course).

Have fun!

Rebecca Taylor Obsession

Finally, a designer who has a hyper-modern take on dressing feminine.

For her spring collection, Rebecca Taylor was going for a world traveler vibe, a girl who is cool, carefree, unencumbered.  The set was full of floral tea dresses, embroidered tunics, sequins and even some leopard print. In my opinion the big array of patterns was less cohesive than, for example, an Etro collection. I approve of the hip hippie direction she took a lot of her looks in, though the hippie headband may have been a bit of tired overkill. But, she succeeded in doing what she does best, making feminine clothing suitable for the modern woman. I give credit to Taylor, for this task is often retrograded with “feminine” being mistaken for “house-wife.”

For fall, the designer claimed to be inspired by Northern European fairytales. I believe she was again successful in keeping modernity fresh and fun, especially while being inspired by such an interesting medium.Taylor brought on her true-to-self prints that provide the girly charm she is known for. She meshed these muted florals with a more autumnal feel with lush fur vests (faux, I hope), well-cut coats, and contrasting belts. The whole group of ensembles was overwhelmingly polished, almost making me wish for some more of the whimsical feel of her spring set.

Is it any wonder the New Zealand native designer has flocks of starlets under her spell?

You Could Say She Has An Individual Style, She’s Part Of A Colorful Time

STYLE ICON: JESSICA SZOHR

I am obsessed with Jessica Szohr’s sense of fashion right now. (By the way it’s pronounced “Zoar.”) She is of Hungarian and African-American descent. What a striking combination!) The little fashionista shot into the spotlight with her role as the semi-annoying Vanessa on Gossip Girl. Her street style on and off of the show has popped up on fashion sites all year due to her “I’m not trying hard” look. With bohemian flair and urban street chic, the results are refreshingly different from the stiflingly preppy surge that arose with the wardrobe of Blair Waldorf.

Jessica makes basic cocktail dresses feel less “Lauren Conrad” by stacking on what looks to be every bracelet she could find and shaking out her hair until it looks perfectly unkempt. Her green Juicy Couture ensemble is by far my favorite with her beautiful Mary-Kate Olsen hair and immaculate accessories.

The girl clearly loves booties and skinnies and minis, which is fine because she styles all of these tricky items flawlessly. I love how she is willing to throw on a pair of skinny jeans, a casual plaid button down, and menswear-inspired flats for an event. Note the consistency of those bangles. She loves to spruce up her basics in a basic way! I’m loving her style right now and can’t wait for the Anna Sui for Target “Vanessa” collection.
