Like Diane Kruger’s and Mia Farrow’s.

10 Things I Love Tuesday: City Edition

1. .PRETTY GRAFFITI.

[source]

2. .PEOPLE-WATCHING.

Maybe not to the extent of toting a video camera around (like in New York, I Love You), but still.

And here, the Sex and the City slapping scene.

3. .JAYWALKING.

Because waiting for lights to change is not time-effective.

4. .MISSED CONNECTIONS.

I love this blog’s artistic representation of the “missed connection.”

Check out my borderline embarrassing musings on strangers.

5. .COBBLESTONES.

I thoroughly appreciate their rustic charm (though definitely when not wearing heels).

9. .PUBLIC LIBRARIES.

10. .ABUNDANT CONCERT VENUES.

Being close to so many venues provides limitless access to live music. Tonight, I spontaneously up and went to  Greg Laswell’s show at Berklee College with one of my favorites. We got to chat with him after the performance. He is extremely talented, funny, and down to earth.

Hope everyone had a beautiful Tuesday!

Just finished the adorable Away We Go, so I’ve been a little inspired by the theme of traveling. I’d choose a commuterrail ride over a car commute any day, if only my coffee addiction didn’t cause me to often miss my train…

As Thirty Dialogues Bleed Into One

Having a good conversation is one of my favorite feelings. That moment when you feel almost buzzed with the excitement of how much you want to respond to and absorb what the other person is saying. These conversations happen both with the people I love most and oddly, the people I know least. With the latter category, the buzz comes from the fact that neither one has any expectations for what the other will contribute. I live for these chats.

A Movie Script Ending

Here’s a lovely little montage of my favorite movie quotations from some of my favorite films.

Garden State

“OK, so… so… sometimes I lie. I mean, I’m weird, man. About random stuff too, I don’t even know why I do it. It’s like… it’s like a tick, I mean sometimes I hear myself say something and think, Wow, that wasn’t even remotely true.”

Vicky Cristina Barcelona

“The trick is to enjoy life, accepting it has no meaning whatsoever.”

Stand By Me

River's potential saddens me to no end.

“OK. You guys can go round if you want. I’m crossing here. And while you guys are dragging your candy-asses half way across the state and back I’ll be waiting for you on the other side, relaxing with my thoughts.”

Before Sunrise

“You know what drives me crazy? It’s all these people talking about how great technology is, and how it saves all this time. But, what good is saved time, if nobody uses it? If it just turns into more busy work. You never hear somebody say, “With the time I’ve saved by using my word processor, I’m gonna go to a Zen monastery and hang out”. I mean, you never hear that.”

“Behind every good man there is a woman, and that woman was Martha Washington, man, and everyday George would come home, she would have a big fat bowl waiting for him, man, when he come in the door, man, she was a hip, hip, hip lady, man.”

“After that it got pretty late, and we both had to go, but it was great seeing Annie again. I… I realized what a terrific person she was, and… and how much fun it was just knowing her; and I… I, I thought of that old joke, y’know, the, this… this guy goes to a psychiatrist and says, “Doc, uh, my brother’s crazy; he thinks he’s a chicken.” And, uh, the doctor says, “Well, why don’t you turn him in?” The guy says, “I would, but I need the eggs.” Well, I guess that’s pretty much now how I feel about relationships; y’know, they’re totally irrational, and crazy, and absurd, and… but, uh, I guess we keep goin’ through it because, uh, most of us… need the eggs.”

Elizabethtown

“Because we have a moment here, let me tell you that I have recently become a secret connoisseur of ‘last looks’. You know the way people look at you when they believe it’s for the last time? I’ve started collecting these looks.”
