We’ll See a Catherine Deneuve Double Feature & Our Lives Will Fade as in Darkness We Will Bathe

I am flat-out not a fan of reality TV. I am however a fan of one of its less histrionic starlets–Whitney Port. Always fresh-faced, always dressed for her age, her fashion risk-taking seems to always look wearable no matter what coast she’s on. She claims to be inspired by Catherine Deneuve; and a lot of the time, it shows. With her obvious resemblance aside, both Whitney and her French muse opt for lots of beige and color pops and seem to have that “je ne sais quoi” stoicism about them. (Hopefully she emulates Deneuve’s charity work–the list is extensive!) The City star and emerging fashion designer may not be the next great actress like Catherine was, but she sure looks good doing whatever it is she does for People’s Revolution.

THE LOOKS

interesting uses of jewelry | mini-dresses | wearable trends

vintage heels | urban street chic | all kinds of patterns

We Embellish The Banks Of Our Bloodstreams, And Throw Caution To The Colorful

Whether she’s dressed for her talk show, a festival, or the streets of London, former model Alexa seems to know the precisely perfect outfit for any occasion. She’s that girl: the one who’d cause you to glance at her outfit and then look back down at your own and wonder why all of a sudden you feel infinitely less stylish. Add one rocker boyfriend to the equation (Alex Turner of the Arctic Moneys) and you have a veritable style muse. In her short time in the spotlight, Alexa has brought some trends singlehandedly into fruition. (Read: shorts with tights, chambray, even her own “Alexa” bag by Mulberry). Constantly hailed as today’s it girl, Alexa surprisingly calls the title “a depressing one to hold.” Instead she has her sights set on fashion journalism and her year-old job as a Vogue contributor is already paving the way. Model, fashion writer, It girl, or what-have-you, the Brit definitely has some serious style credibility.

She Got The Motion Of The Sea Of Love In The Air

THE TALENT

Kate’s yet to do something that has made me fall in love with her acting skills. But, I have liked her in Remember the Titans, 21, and The Rules of Attraction. Also how can one not mention Blue Crush? She was too cute in it and the whole vibe of the movie was laid-back and manageable on the Rom-Com corniness.

THE STYLE

Kate’s style can only be described as hippie hipster, or edged-out former surfer girl. Her style seemed to evolve parallel with her career. Back in the haze of Blue Crush, her style was simply California sunny chic.   But now as her move roles have become more serious, so has her taste in fashion.  She knows how to highlight a print by surrounding it with neutrals. She knows how to look like the quintessential Band-Aid when at Coachella, yet rock a Rodarte dress just the next night. Her versatility continues to surprise me.

ethic prints | florals | black basics | attention to detail

mosaic prints | layering | aviators | festival fashion

THE MISCELLANEOUS

Apparently called heterochromia, her eyes are two different colors: brown and blue.

There She Was: Silky Starlit Pressed Up To The Screen

THE TALENT

Come to think of it, Kirsten Dunst has starred in almost strictly aesthetically-pleasing movies: Marie Antoinette, Elizabethtown, The Virgin Suicides, Crazy/Beautiful, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Many of these have become my favorites, not just for their prettiness, but also for Kirsten’s acting.  It is not surprising that Sofia Coppola has often dubbed Kirsten as one of her muses in the past.  As Lux Lisbon or Marie Antoinette, Kirsten always brings the perfect breezy irreverence to the screen.

THE STYLE

Kirsten’s style can only be described as retro hipster grunge, if that’s even a possible combination. At times she looks like a stoned college student who threw on the nearest tee and jeans. This undone vibe has her sometimes looking like Eddie Vedder’s long-lost daughter. Yet, her choice in footwear and accessories shows she has one foot in the nineties and one the Gen X hipster world of today. Add in a dash of vintage and retro throwbacks (such as a shirtdress here or a full skirt there) and the combination is undeniably unique.

small prints | hipster accessories

full skirts | grungy accents

THE MISCELLANEOUS

One of Dunst’s projects is her production company with her mother called “Wooden Spoon Productions.” The name symbolizes women and creativity and was inspired by her grandmother, who used wooden spoons to keep her in line when she was little.

You Caught Me In The Middle, Dazed And Confused

From her pretty patterned fashion line Jovovich-Hawk to her folk album The Divine Comedy, the model turned actress had accomplished a lot more than her Resident Evil fame bubble lets on. To top off her versatility, she is an amfAR ambassador and actively involved in the tck tck tck climate change organization.

It seems like  Milla Jovovich is forever taking cues from her Dazed and Confused wardrobe.  Her style is full of neutrals and basics with some bohemian layering and accessorizing.
